Western Bays Street Rodders and it's members have been heavily influenced by drag racing over the years.

From organising and running the Porirua Street Drags for over ten years, and then later, due to the loss of our venue in Porirua, we ran the Upper Hutt Street Drags, in conjunction with the Capital Rodders club.

Several of our members hold, or have held national records in Drag Racing ranging from 1/8 mile street drags, DYO, and sportsman classes, right up to the 200+ MPH club - including the New Zealand Top Alcohol Funny Car champion Neil Robertson who held both ET and MPH records for many years, until Aucklander Tim Watkins claimed the record in 2006.

As well as having racing drivers, several of our members also crew on race cars, both on fellow club members vehicles, and other race cars as well.

Several members are currently building new purpose built drag cars - we actively encourage our members who wish to race their vehicles - we believe drag racing is a great sport which we support fully.
